The pilot is described as a UK first for this type of non-amine capture chemistry. Our take (Heads-up): A non-amine pilot is worth watching because amine solvent degradation and volatile emissions are real weak points in current capture stacks. The open questions are which sorbent chemistry is actually being used, the energy penalty per tonne captured, and what happens to the CO2 downstream. Until capture rates and cost figures are published, treat this as an early-stage trial rather than a proven alternative.
