DVNE just published : Lisa Mangertseder: The Evolution of CDR.
The German CDR association DVNE has published an interview with Lisa Mangertseder, who served on its board for more than three years as Deputy Chair and has now left to become Senior Business Development Manager for Carbon Markets at SIX. She describes CDR moving from a niche topic to one embedded in European policy, pointing to the European Commission’s proposal to bring permanent removals into the EU ETS. On the market side, she contrasts the earlier pattern of bespoke bilateral deals with the current growth of registries, verifiers, insurers, brokers and marketplaces aimed at standardisation and institutional capital. She also flags policy and buyer demand as the sector’s main enabler and, by implication, its main constraint.
Our take (Context): The framing is reasonable and the intermediary build-out is real, but this is an association interview with a board member joining a financial-market infrastructure firm, so the emphasis on bankability and liquidity is not disinterested. There is no data on volumes, prices or delivery, and the shift toward financial products raises unresolved questions about liability for reversals and MRV quality that the piece does not test.
