Underground Forest BV is a Rotterdam-based CDR company founded in 2023 by Kees de Gruiter that sources Norway spruce from sustainably managed forests in the Belgian Ardennes and drives the logs deep into anoxic Dutch clay and peat soils for long-term carbon storage, often combined with building foundations. The firm has registered projects on the Oncra registry, is in the process of issuing CORCs via Puro.earth, and received a loan from CarbonFix to finance its first kiloton-scale removal.
