About
Octavia Carbon is a Nairobi-based direct air capture startup founded in 2022 by Martin FreimΓΌller and Duncan Kariuki that designs and operates solid-sorbent DAC machines powered by Kenyan geothermal energy. Its Project Hummingbird pilot in the Rift Valley pairs DAC with in-situ basalt mineralization via storage partner Cella, targeting roughly 1,500 tCO2/yr gross (~1,000 tCO2/yr net), with a larger ~10,000 tCO2/yr follow-on planned.
