About
EDAC Labs is a Baltimore-based Johns Hopkins spin-out founded in July 2022 that exclusively licensed an electrochemical “electrosynthesizer” technology producing low-cost acid and base from brine. Its in-house CDR project pairs critical-metal recovery from mine tailings with permanent CO2 mineralization as carbonates, and it also sells its electrochemical cells as an input to DAC, ocean alkalinity enhancement, and enhanced weathering developers. The company raised a $3M seed led by the Grantham Foundation in August 2023 and won a $500K Frontier prepurchase from Stripe and Shopify.
