CO2 Energie AG is a Swiss joint-venture subsidiary of Regionalwerke AG Baden (RWB) and Recycling Energie AG, founded in 2020/2021 to operate CO2 capture and liquefaction at their biogas upgrading sites. Its first Nesselnbach plant (commissioned April 2023) captures ~3,000 t/yr of biogenic CO2, with output sold to Messer Schweiz for industrial use; a third combined biogas/CO2 plant in Niederwil is under construction with 2026 commissioning and is intended to deliver negative emissions via permanent CO2 storage.
