About
Carbonity is a joint venture equally owned by Airex Energy, Groupe RΓ©mabec, and SUEZ, operating Canada’s first industrial-scale biochar plant in Port-Cartier, QuΓ©bec. The facility was inaugurated on May 22, 2025 with an initial capacity of 10,000 tonnes of biochar per year from forest residues, expected to triple by 2026 and sequester ~75,000 tonnes CO2e annually at full capacity. Carbon credits are marketed via First Climate, with Microsoft having pre-purchased 36,000 credits.
