About
Carbon Cell is a London-based materials startup founded in 2023 by Imperial College London and Royal College of Art alumni Elizabeth Lee, Ori Blich, Eden Harrison and Juan Ignacio Rion. The company makes a patent-pending, plastic-free foam from biochar and natural polymers that has a low or negative carbon footprint and can replace expanded polystyrene, EPP and PUR/PIR in packaging and insulation. In May 2025 it raised a Β£1.2M pre-seed round to scale pellet manufacturing to 20kg per hour and deliver its first full commercial-scale order through 2026.
