About

Captura is a Pasadena, California-based Direct Ocean Capture company founded at Caltech in 2021. It operates a 1,000-ton-per-year pilot plant in Kona, Hawaii (opened February 2025, developed with Equinor) and in 2025 signed a 30,000-credit offtake with MOL, opened a Pasadena HQ/manufacturing facility, and completed Equinor’s technology qualification program. Its business model is to license DOC technology to deployment partners for commercial facilities targeting 30,000–50,000 tons/year.
