About
Biofine Developments Northeast (BDNE) is a Maine-based biorefinery developer commercializing patented Biofine Technology to convert cellulosic waste into ethyl levulinate (EL), a drop-in renewable heating-oil substitute, with levulinic acid and biochar as co-products. Its Phase 1 plant at the former Lincoln Pulp & Tissue Mill site is slated to produce ~3–4 million gallons of EL and ~20,000 tons of biochar annually, with Sprague Resources as the offtake partner. Biofuel production is the primary business; biochar is an adjacent co-product.
